Here is the update on the Latigo Canyon kitchen. Below is a pic of the finished cabinet door front. Still waiting for the cabinet guy to install the crown molding. So until that is done, we will wait to take a full kitchen picture.

Here are the formerly 80′s barstools turned French Fun:

I adore the palm tree…it’s from a Nancy Corzine material I saw in Vogue magazine and the picture was big and clear enough to photocopy for decoupage.

The gold detail is what makes this chair have that “French” feeling instead of that country feeling. When we finish the cushions, it will make a big difference too.

While were working on the Latigo Canyon home we thought we would look for the right barstools to go with the new butcher block island. We found them and are antiquing as well as doing an aged decoupage to them. Here’s the progress on the kitchen: Cabinets are done minus the molding so we are going to wait to photograph them until then. Here are some pics of the middle phase of the island.

We have also taken off the stainless bolt caps and countersunk the screws…

added trim and are painting it the same color as the inspiration picture ( look at the “Latigo Canyon Kitchen”post. )

Now we are onto the barstools. We are going to make them very French…

Here are some inspiring images that will help me do the master bedroom in Latigo Canyon…

I’m loving a little gold detail like on the bench next to the dress form. Simple, not too over the top. I also love the green on the walls. Similar to what I plan for the master.

The inspiration out of this picture ( below ) are the pillows on the bed. I want to do antique kimono pillows. I love the way the bedskirt matches the curtains. That’s a winner for the master too. This home is also in Malibu and the living room picture I am also going to take some great ideas out of.

Here is the living room…love the red accents. We have a similar couch to work with and sisal so we’ll make our own spin on this look.

IN OUR LATIGO CANYON REMODEL, WE FOUND KNOBS SIMILAR TO THE PICTURE ( BELOW, LOOK AT THE OFF WHITE CABINETS ) FROM IKEA FOR $4.95 AND IT’S A 2 PACK!!!

WE ALSO FOUND A SIMILAR “BUTCHER BLOCK” WOOD TOP AT IKEA FOR ONLY $200 ( TO REPLACE THE 80′S LOOKING GLASS ONE ON THE EXISTING ISLAND. THE BUILDER OBVIOUSLY ENVISIONED THE CAST OF “ENTOURAGE” LIVING IN THE HOLLYWOOD HILLS WHEN HE DESIGNED THIS PLACE. THAT WAS ONLY TWO YEARS AGO! ) IT WAS THE EXACT SIZE WE NEEDED! THE KNOBS ON THIS PIECE WE FOUND AT HOME DEPOT.

Faux Finish Reality

THE REALITY BEHIND FAUX FINISHING IS THAT UNTIL THE BEAUTIFUL
( SOMETIMES MIRACULOUS ) TRANSFORMATION IS COMPLETED, THE PROCESS IS NOT SO PRETTY. HENCE THE SAYING: “YOU HAVE TO SUFFER TO BE BEAUTIFUL”. IT APPLIES TO FAUX FINISH AS WELL!

BELOW ARE PICS OF THE MID POINT OF THIS JOB. OUR TARGET FINISH DATE IS SATURDAY FOR THE CABINETS…MINUS THE CROWN MOLDING AND THE NEW WOOD DETAIL WE ARE ADDING.

HERE IS A PIC OUT OF CALIFORNIA HOMES MAGAZINE THAT GAVE US THE IDEA FOR THE WOOD DETAIL ON THE CABINET FRONTS ( OF THE AGED OFF WHITE CABINETS ). WE WON’T BE DOING ANYTHING THAT SCREAMS “CHATEAU” AS THIS KITCHEN DOES, BUT SMALLER AND A LITTLE MORE SIMPLE YET STILL ORNATE.

Eco Faux also stands for saving money and all thing economical. This job had a tiny budget and we are in the process of making it work.

Day one was to install a wood laminate. This product looks just like hardwood without the price tag. Eco faux does Paradise Cove!

Eco-Faux just began a fun little job in Paradise Cove, Malibu. Tom is a newly single guy who moved back to California from Florida. While he searches for land to build his new home, Tom is renting this little ( 250 s.f. ) studio with a kitchenette. This little place was deal he couldn’t pass up being so close to Point Dume with a private beach, and the legendary Paradise Cove cafe ( the guy has a social life! ). Below is the inspiration for Tom’s new digs. Watch us transform this unsightly studio to a bohemian bungalow.

The blue on the walls in this picture is what we are going to use for the bath…dark and sexy!

This is the green we are using for the living/bedroom area. We will also have lots of bamboo accents.

Tuscan Kitchen update…

Finished the fridge ( minus the crown molding that hasn’t been installed yet ) and ready to work on the rest of the kitchen. I’m really happy with the antiquing. The kitchen in the picture below is a custom cabinet that was sprayed, not faux finished so it has a slightly different look to it. The custmer wanted her kitchen cabinet to look authentically “antiqued” and I think we have achieved that.

Furniture Restoration

Eco Faux’s furniture restoration is a great way to get a new look without spending major money replacing furniture that is outdated or poor condition. We will be posting more pictures in the near future of the many different pieces Eco Faux has done for our clients.

Example: The is a former Eddie Bauer king size four post bed our client purchased for $1000. This bedframe was recently faux finished by Eco faux for $500. The bedframe was a drab natural wood color and is now elegant with an “antiqued” finish. Four post king size frames like this retail from $2500 on up.

Dressers can range from $150-$600 depending on the condition of the piece and the amount of faux finish work the client requests.

This is a custom curtain rod extending over two sliding glass dora at 84 inches each. This rod was custom painted for $85 by Eco Faux.

Paintings can be restored or antiqued. These paintings were antiqued and cleaned up. The floral painting cost $50 in Eco Faux labor and the landscape cost $65 in Eco Faux labor.
